Sounds relaxing, doesn’t it? Well Indian Head Massage isn’t just a treat! There are actually lots of benefits to this therapy! Here’s 5 of the best ones! (Now, there’s your excuse to indulge in one!)
1. Relieves Migraines, Headaches and Back pain –
Migraines and Headaches can be caused by tension in the upper back, shoulders and neck. Of course, if there is tension in your upper back, this can also cause back pain. The therapy works on your upper back and shoulders as well as your head, relieving tension, releasing muscle knots and any build up of fluids during the massage.
2. Promotes Hair Growth –
Massaging the scalp stimulates the hair follicle, promoting oxygen flow to them which, in turn, helps to make your hair grow quicker! What a lovely side effect…(if you want more hair that is!)
3. Detoxes the body –
Massage promotes lymph drainage and blood flow which releases toxins from the muscles. This is why you should drink plenty of water after your therapy, to flush the toxins out of your system. It may also make you feel a little run down for a few hours afterwards! (This is normal and means it’s helping you!)
4. Reduces Anxiety, Depression & Other mental health concerns –
Naturally, massage promotes relaxation and calm to the body which, in turn helps to reduce stress which is the main cause of anxiety and depression. Anxiety and depression can be the reason for insomnia, trouble sleeping and restlessness. Massage also releases endorphins that make you feel good and promotes better oxygen flow!
5. Increases your Memory –
Having an Indian head massage is sort of like pressing your “reset button”. Throughout the day, our brains get filled with new information that stacks up and this causes short term memory problems. This makes it harder for us to retain more important information. The massage will give you time to relax, not have to think about new information and it will clear your mind of any useless information. Not to mention, the increased oxygen flow will help your brain function!
Our Indian Head massages can range from 15-45 minutes long, with or without aromatherapy oils and reiki will be used during the treatment (this can be excluded by request). You will be asked to sit in a low backed chair and it is better for both yourself and the therapist if all clothes and jewellery from your waist up are removed (you would be wrapped in a towel for modesty!) although, this can be done clothed, without oils, if requested.
